[lang_en]A few days ago, while tinkering with the idea of going back to my old profession \u2013 translator\/interpreter \u2013 I paid some visit to a couple of famous translators\u2019 cafes out there on the net. And I realized that I have an annoying little problem: I haven\u2019t been doing professional (meaning, paid) translation work for quite a few years, and this does not look good on a CV. Pretty stupid of me, since I regularly use at least three (and no, I will not play the trick to count \u201cna\u0161ki\u201d as three: politics is one thing, professional work is another) of my languages every day. I AM a professional translator, and a damn good one for the simple reason that I am a damn good writer, but I work for myself.<\/p>\n

Then it occurred to me to rely on my other profession \u2013 journalism \u2013 and do something more interesting than trying to patch up the hole in my CV: making my own showcase. Every day I process a fairly impressive amount of materials for my own needs: all sorts of articles and specialist texts that are of interest or use to me. Now, I will translate some of them here, have fun, practice, do something useful for the larger public \";-)\" and show off my skills as a translator. Problem solved![\/lang_en]<\/p>\n

[lang_it]Alcuni giorni fa, palleggiandomi l’idea di tornare alla mia vecchia professione – traduttore\/interprete – mi sono fatta un giro su un paio di famosi internet cafe per traduttori. E mi son resa conto di avere un problemino fastidioso: sono diversi anni che non faccio traduzione professionale (= pagata), e questo non fa brillare un CV. Abbastanza stupido da parte mia, posto che uso quotidianamente almeno tre delle mie lingue (no, non mi abbasso a contar il “na\u0161ki” come se fossero tre, la politica e’ una cosa, la professionalita’ e’ un’altra). Io SONO un traduttore professionista, e un ottimo traduttore, perche’ sono un ottimo autore di testi, ma lavoro per me stessa.<\/p>\n

A questo punto mi e’ venuto in mente di usare l’altra mia professionalita’ – il giornalismo – per fare qualcosa di piu’ interessante che non cercare semplicemente di rappezzare il mio CV: allestire la mia personale vetrina. Ogni giorno macino una quantita’ piuttosto impressionante di materiali per le mie esigenze personali: ogni sorta di articoli e testi specializzati che sono per me interessanti o utili. Ora ne tradurro’ alcuni qui, mi divertiro’, faro’ un po’ di esercizio, faro’ qualcosa di utile per il pubblico generico\u00a0 \";-)\" ed esibiro’ le mie abilita’ di traduttore.
